Starfield library

Starfield is a shopping mall, there is one in Gangam area of Seoul to.

The one here in Suwon is famous for the library they have incorporated into it.

Looks really cool, in the midst of shops and shoppers.

You cant take a book with you, but all books can be read on site, and they have set up lots of spors where you can sit and read/study

Suwon, thursday

Today we walked around in Suwon, looking at old walls and fortresses, markets and even a shopping mall.

Here is a picture of the entrance to our Air bnb in Suwon, might not look to much from the outside โ€“ but we will post some pics from the inside later.. excellent apartment.

Bus is absolutely the best way to get around, and we have got out T-Money card from our local c-you kiosk, both bus stop and kiosk just a two minute walk from our door.

language is a bit of a problem, there is really not anyone that speaks it, if they do it is very limited. This has also added on to the problem of getting pocket wifi with. 5gโ€ฆ. Its very hard to figure out where to buy it.. But the town is full of free wifi, and then Google lens can help out

(when you press the button the wind comes out)

That was the air condition unit of the bus stopโ€ฆ The bus stop..no walls or anything.. had an air conditioning unit.

Riding the bus around town took us to some great places, and I have to add โ€“ Suwon has NO microbreweriesโ€ฆ. Noneโ€ฆ But the do have AC at their bus stops

And wireless charging in the bus stop seats, but no microbreweries, as mentioned.

Thats the C U kiosk and our air conditioned wireless charged bus stop right across the street.

From Suwon Hwaseong Museum

The last picture, i think it is dried fish โ€“ or, I hope that it is dried fish. Not sure what this is used for, snacks? Looks a bitโ€ฆ. Creepy ๐Ÿ™‚

Don Juan

You meet all kinds of people traveling, and we met this other couple traveling in Asia โ€“ while having a beer in a pub. Turns out this guy was traveling around and setting up musicals in Asia, and now he was doing Don Juan in Seoul

He set us up with two tickets two the show, what a nice guy!.

The show was at Seoul Arts Center

We had just relocated to Suwon, but thats not to far away, so we got on the bus back to Seoul for the show. (That is a truly great picture of the art center)

Don Juan was real good and we enjoyed every minute of it โ€“ thanks again Wayne, if you read this. You have some beers waiting for you in Lillestrรธm !

Going to the Don Juan musical in Seoul was really not something we planned for, so great surprise in that. The singing was in French and the subtitles in Korean, but we got the general idea. ๐Ÿ˜€

Suwon

today we checked out of our hotell in Seoul, and started our slow move south towards Mokkpokk (Mopok..or Mokpok) and Busan, with a 3 day stay in Suwon

Suwon is just over 1 hour ride with the metro , south of Seoul. The metro system is absolutely huge and not to easy to navigateโ€ฆ For some strange reason there is not a lot of English going on.

we are somewhere inside the circle โ€“ and we are headed outside the circle.

We nailed it down to โ€œLine 1โ€ โ€“ that seems to usually have the colour blue. So now its just to figure out what direction โ€“ and then which of the different line-1 versions to takeโ€ฆ Easy

We saw this sign overhead โ€“ and everything became crystal clear.

The thing is โ€“ Google maps dont work here. It will show you the map, show restaurants and sights n stuff.. but it do not provide any directions..walking, car og trains.. nothing. You have to use the NAVER App ..appโ€ฆ Thats pretty much same as Google maps, but a bit more tricky on language..

Anyways, we had to get og at a station, and get on the train behind..but we are calling it a win.. Metro was full, alleays, all the time โ€“ so 1 hour standing so Suwon.

Got a taxi from the train station to our air bnb, driver did not know where to go.. i did not know where to go and people we stopped along the way did not know anything โ€“ at least not where to go

this is because all these apps and Air BnB info is in English lettering, not the local signs โ€“ and lots of taxi driver have now clue about those letters. So. Note to self, bring address with local signs next time ๐Ÿ™‚

Beers in Seoul

So many microbreweries, so little time. We have visited quite a few โ€“ and most of them have had some great beer.

Craft Roo was a really nice place to hang out โ€“ nice chairs (yes, its a thing. It feels like most chairs in Asia are 20 cm high and made of plastic thoothpicks). Besides tasters flights, they had some nice snacks. Most beers on tap where their own beers.

We also had a trip to Euljirio Brewing, a beer you get i a lot of the tap rooms. Besides a very weird pale ale โ€“ they had some great beersโ€ฆ. The logo was something real special.

Good beers but a kinda nightmare ish setup โ€“ lots of neon, kinda cold/damp and fusion jazz played a bit to high.. Also the guys working there was standing next to each other in a kinda military setup until someone wanted anything..

also โ€“ their merch are incredibly expensive. I bought a small pin that has to be a numbered edition pr something.. 20.000 wons.. anyways.

Moving along we visited The Ranch, this place has a cool entrance, where you really cant see that there is a pub there.

You have to pull on that vending machine thingy, and then it opens onto the barโ€ฆ. Which is better than Euiljiroโ€ฆbut pretty far from a comfy beer place with a large nice barโ€ฆgood chairsโ€ฆ Etc . But at least there was no jazz

Good selection on tap, only tried a few since we where there 50 mins to closing.

We found a super nice spot just next to the MMCA museum, thatโ€ฆhad a nameโ€ฆim sure..

Here we had the golden and weisen beer that both where excellent. Also had some great snacks..

Kiwa Taproom ! Yes, Kiwa!

Here we met a couple traveling and working in Korea โ€“ turned out that the guys was a director for some French musicals in Koreaโ€ฆso, long story short โ€“ on Wednesday we are going to see Don Juan on Seoul Arts Center ! โ€ฆSee, beer is and leads to culture. I will even get to use my โ€œnice shirtโ€ ๐Ÿ‘

This other one I have forgot the name of for sure โ€“ but it was absolutely loaded with beer awards, and their beer was excellent to โ€“ the stout and ipa was good stuff.

You can nearly see the name of them here.. I will Google itโ€ฆ1 min.. Art Monster! โ€“ excellent selection of beer.

Moving out of Seoul i think we will find some great beers in Busan, if we get there. Also Jeju Island should have a few..

So far we havent seen anything crazy in the beer scene, there has been a couple of goese โ€“ and there was a lime infused pilsner that was strongly nice.

Slow brewing Seoul

A very popular brewery that makes both very good beer and makgeolli.

They have one of the beste beers we tasted in a long tine. They have won prizes for it, well deserved.

The food was amazing as well, so well worth the prize. Which was a bit prizy compared to other places.

Seoul Museum of Modern Art

it cant be all weird food and new beers, gotta get some culture in there to. MMCA is located just under 2kn from our hotel, and today the sun was out to โ€“ so it was a nice walk up there.

It was close to free entrance, a huge place โ€“ but I think a few of the exhibitions where closed. We went for the two available, The Hashtag Project and a large exhibition of Lee Kang So

The hashtag exhibition was a bit more interactive, and we kinda forgot to take any pictures โ€“ to bad. But it was pretty cool where they had created a huge game where all visitors worked together er to save the World โ€“ by posting ideas and needs.. but also, no pics

There was a area where you also could create your own statue โ€“ Maren made a pretty nice one

And as we see lots of places in Asia, umbrella parking ๐Ÿ™‚

Dogs n cats clothing

now here is a shop u dont see to often

it specializes in misc clothing for cats and dogs. Truly weird ๐Ÿ™‚

For the summer and holidays in France, a chiq ble dress.

And for that car that has hit the food a bit to often and hardโ€ฆ Pluss sizes

endless possibilities.. they even had Spiderman and Superman outfits
