Bye bye Busan

Today we are leaving Busan, on the 9 o’clock to Osong, where we will have a 25 min wait before catching the train to Mokpok.

Sunrise over Busan station – I wonder when or if we will be back? Probably at some time – Busan was a nice city to Roam around in.

Today we are going with the KTX – the fastest trains, so even though we are back tracking quite a lot to Osong, and then going back south again to Mokpok, the total ride is less than the ride from Suwon to Busan.

We went with first class tickets this time, nice seats and free coffee.

We just got on the train from Osong now, probably a nice town – we only saw the train station, wastn really worth a fridge magnet.

In 1,45 we should be in Mokpo, where we have just one night at a hotell before we will try to get on the ferry going to Jeju. I kinda got some tickets booked..we kinda know where the ferry is leaving from.. And I am kinda gotten a bit sick. So today will be a laidback day before we try to find the ferry that leaves at 0800 AM tomorrow.

weather is cold and raining – feels like a Norwegian April 🙂

Last day in Busan

We have spent most of our time in the area surrounding the Busan Station and Nampo district – and also the island right outside, that has a name.

today we decided to try a different area, so we got on a bus towards Haeundae area/district thing. 1 hour on a bus, still in the same town, Busan is absolutely huge

We got here as the sun was setting and had a walk along the beach. There are also small trolley you can rent out that runs on track along a large part of the coast here, but they where fully booked for weeks.

And as luck would have it, probably one of the best microbreweries in Busan was at the end of the beach. Gorilla Brewing. 🙂 (raspberry wheat!)

The weather is pretty cold as soon as the sun sets, winds are good to. When we finally located the bus back home (1003!), it was the best thing ever to step into a hot bus.

Busan Arts Center

Busan Arts Center is located just outside downtown on a small island just off Busan and one can get there with a short bus ride. The Art museum had a impressive display of a digital artworks with the theme jungel. It also had a couple of ipressive installations imetating weaterphenomenas. The also had a massive digitalisation of french painters giving the viewer a new and immersive experience of known artist. Just take a look at the take on Monet in the video here:

The museum had an area where one could draw an animal and then get it digitalised and put in the huge jungel covering th walls. This is Tonds dragon.

First day in Busan

we arrived in Busan at 1530 today, and we really didnt have any plans besides finding out Air BnB apartment, that was located 15 min walk from the train station.

But forst some lunch after many hours in the train.

Maren found some bimbimbap on Busan train station, my order was something… Not as good.. strips of pork in water.. or, at least, that what i felt like.

Nice day in Busan today, warm..sunny. Here is Maren – half way to the Air BnB.

here is our new bus stop – compared to the one in Sowun it really dont deliver. No flowing air button. No charging in seats…. C U kiosk is miles away… But, at least it is close. Our Air bnb is the building at the end there – 1 min walk away.

We took the bus down to BIFF square, this is where they host Busan International Filmfestival, have their walk of fame and tons of shops, restaurants and bars. Also the streets are filled with different streetfood vendors.

we stopped in at Galmegi, a Korean brewery that has a few real nice beers. We tried a few different ones .

After a few beers we walked up a couple of streets to a spot called Gwangbogjib, we found it on Google – and it was super nice. Korean pancake and beef stew.

The streets was filled with people with different stands, we decided to get back here another day to explore a bit more.

Air BnB, Suwon

some pics from our Air bnb in Suwon.

It was located a bit out of downtown, but had great bus connection. AC and floor heating – all in Korean lettering, so it was all about pushing buttons on the remote until something happened 🙂

Busan next

Left our supernice Air BnB at 09 this morning, dont the ITK, not the KTX fra Suwon Station – heading towards Busan

Suwon station is pretty big, so it wasnt all straight forward finding the right track – but here we are, finally onboard.

The trip will take just over 4 hours – and will pretty much bring us across the whole country. The KTX (different operator) is a bit faster – but they where all sold out.

the plan is to stay in Busan over the weekend, and then try to get to Jeju Island on Monday, that will be .. interesting.. booking ferries from Mopok has showed itself tricky, and the high speed train from Busan to Mokpok needs a change of train midways.. som. Will we get to Mokpok in time for the ferry to Jeju? No one knows. 🙂
